Lingering was written in the autumn of 2025. During that time, I spent many hours walking and bicycling through town, often along the water, under the slanted rays of a sun that seemed to sink lower each day. The light transformed everything it touched. The air felt golden, hushed. It was as if the town itself had fallen asleep, suspended in time.

In that stillness, I began to imagine that at any moment something might happen — something that would begin a story worthy of unfolding in such an enchanted place.

I leave it to you to interpret the song and its lyrics. Perhaps it is a song about waiting. About being ready, even when the world around you is not. About having done what you could, and done it right — and still finding yourself searching for a way forward. It may be a song about hope, and the slow arrival of doubt. About existing in a state between worlds and possibilities.

Some moments stretch beyond measure. Some thresholds refuse to open.

And so you linger.

Lingering

Gold in the air Motes of light drift Not even a breeze Still water — mirror dreams Empty façades A world asleep Twilight lingers Here with me Waiting for the magic to begin A voice, a face — a hand to take mine This fairytale world, suspended in time The moment before it begins Neverending A silent bird In shimmering air The city holds Its breath in light Am I a phantom? A ghost with no place Following rays In solitude Waiting for the story to begin Adventure calls — the moment stalls This fairytale world, suspended in time The moment before it begins Neverending I imagine all that could be I imagine you and me This world — all our own If you would only exist Waiting for the story to begin Adventure calls — the moment stalls This fairytale world, suspended in time The moment before it begins Waiting for the magic to begin Your voice, your face — your hand in mine This hope of mine, hung in the light The moment before it begins Waiting still Lingering
